Tá Scéim na Gaeilge ag an mBord um Fhaisnéis do Shaoránaigh de réir Alt 11 d'Acht na dTeangacha Oifigiúla 2003. Is é príomhaidhm an Achta seo go mbeadh fáil níos fearr ar sheirbísí poiblí as Gaeilge agus go mbeadh caighdeán níos airde acu seo.
Tá mórán tioncsnaimh sa Scéim chun breis leibhéal seirbhíse trí Ghaeilge a soláthar. Tá sí ceadaithe ag an Aire Gnóthaí Pobail, Tuaithe agus Gaeltachta agus thosaigh sí an 7ú lá Iúil 2008.
